This is a beautiful hard maple end-grain cutting board trimmed in black cherry.  All of the woods are  hard woods so the board will last a lifetime when properly cared for.  A "Juice Groove" has been routed around the exterior of one face of the board so that it may be used as a serving tray as needed.  In addition there are finger holes on either side to help get under it when needing to pick it up.  
 
End-grain cutting boards, when gllued up properly, are less likely to "potato chip" as hydration levels begin to fluctuate with the cleanings.  In addition, endgrain cutting boards are extremely durable because instead of the knife blade cutting through the fibers of the grain if they were laid flatly running across the board, the fibers are standing straight up so as the knife does cut down in, you are not severing a fiber, you're simply pushing them to the side of one another.  
 
Every cutting board is at least 14x16 inches and 1.5" thick but each board does vary.  Typically they are shipped oversized.  They come with a free 2oz tin of BK Furniture Board Conditioner to keep the board hydrated and looking it's 'best.  
 
If you would prefer to only one side and have feet added, that can be done at not additional cost.
